In 2023 the Parish Council (PC) entered the Lancashire Best Kept Village competition.

Grindleton is a beautiful village situated in the Forest of Bowland Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The Parish Council enters this competition to focus attention on maintenance of the village and hopes to foster community cohesion and a pride in our environment. This we achieve in abundance and are enormously grateful to the villagers who support the venture. Of course winning is the icing on the cake.

The final round was judged by The Hon. Mr Justice Peter Openshaw. His comments about Grindleton were: 'It is obvious from the notice board that this is a lively community. This first impression is maintained as one walks around the - largely weed free - village. The Village Hall, and the excellent playground and sports facilities, are plainly well used and well cared for. The same goes for the school, the church and the churchyard, and the Mary Brown Cottages, all of which I visited. The new Rum Fox is a great asset. I admire, and commend, the village's attempt to make something of the now decayed Duke of York.'
